The Portland Organizer
Ideally, my story would begin in my chic and perfectly organized childhood bedroom. I would share with my clients anecdotes of neatly arranged tea parties and alphabetized bookshelves. Alas, that is not my story. Instead, I was taught the "art" of organization via my uber organized father. I learned to push all of my possessions (with a broom) into a pile, sort, file, and put my belongings away in an orderly fashion.
As I grew into adulthood, I began to recognize the worth of this skill that had been ingrained in me. I began to appreciate the pile and ultimately the order I had created. The new functionality I could find in spaces where previously there had been none. However, many of us find that regardless of whether or not we've learned this skill, finding the time to keep a tidy living environment is a struggle. The process of organizing is a simple yet daunting experience for most folks and THIS is where I come in.
After working as a nanny for many years, and being welcomed intimately into various homes, I began to see the similarities in so many households. The parallels between families go beyond kiddos, play dates, and the dreaded stack of take home papers. I realized that uniformly, families needed some extra help sorting, organizing, labeling and mostly, creating a FUNCTIONAL space in which their families can thrive.
I am passionate about restoring order to spaces that have lost their zest. I hope to create for my clients balance and joy that comes from a functional and tidy home.

Katie
